very disappointed in quality

I am only taking the time to review a $9 item to perhaps save someone some trouble. I temporarily could not find our older cloth tape so I ordered a couple style new ones just to be covered. This singer tape was one I picked, because I figured for the price and the singer brand it would be okay. Got it this morning (and the clover brand) and I am very disappointed. Terrible quality, poor feel to the mechanism and even the tape surface and the markings are amazingly poor quality. And to make things worse the markings on the other side of the tape show through making things worse. Really awful and I am sure I will never use it for those reasons. I also bought the clover brand tape which is just fine and actually far less expensive. Ironically the old tape we had showed up and I have new appreciation for how nice it is and how well it's stood up (Rollfix made in West Germany). Bottom line is I wasted $9 on this Singer tape and if I had to do it over again I would certainly not have bought it. Can't really understand how Singer would want to put their name on it.

The perfect tool in many ways

No worrying about what size to look for when shopping all you have to do is major yourself with this and away you go you can also be used for other types of majoring such as diameter and or radius

Tape Measure for Sewing

This is just what I wanted. Spools out nicely. The tape is small and perfect for onsite alterations for elderly folk. I recommend this tape measure.

Great buy

I use this to measure my crochet and knitting projects. I've had it for a while now. Stood up to repeated use and a 3 year old. Definitely convenient, eassy to throw in a project bag.

Awesome measuring tape

Awesome measuring tape, i can take it anywhere. And since the tape actually locks every few inches, is really easy not to lose a measurement by forgotting it or stuff like that.

Compact, push-button retractable

I work the front counter at a shipping center and always have to measure everything. I love that it's small, compact and only retracts when I push the button. Great value for my money.

It was fine until it BROKE

Its a tape measure. It has one job, which it did until it broke maybe after....10 times using it? The retractable mechanism broke and the thing would not wind up properly. The price was right but what good is it if it doesn't retract? Thankfully, Amazon gave me a full refund. Just don't bother buying it, get something else.
