I love it!!!!
This thing is wonderful and saves bringing up the downrigger over and over. Here are some things to know. 1. There is a learning curve with it, but not a difficult learning curve. Just takes a little patience and once figure it out is fast and easy to use. 2. Line release: you just need to figure out how to adjust release and how much tension to keep on the rod line as it slides down the cable. Another reviewer said it did not work with a Scotty Release, because Scotty release was too heavy, so did not come back up. I can see how a heavy release would cause this, but I have used it with the mini Scotty with no problems and also works fine with the one that comes with it. The only time it hasn't come up is where mossy debri got on cable blocking it or on shuttle hawk making it too heavy to rise. 3. Shuttle Hawk sliding down cable: You have to keep enough tension on your line (especially to get it going down) so the Shuttle Hawk tips nose down while lowering. It has a small weight in the Shuttlehawk that rolls forward causing it to dive and go down. Keep that tension on all the way down. I just release the bail and let the fishing line slide through my fingers with enough tension to keep shuttle hawk tipped down. (I watch the hawk the first 10-15 feet to determine amount of tension to keep back end up. Of course trolling speed will indicate if this is needed and how much. 4. You have to be moving to get it all the way down. The pressure of the water pushing against it as the nose is down causes it to slide down the cable. If you are not trolling, there is no pressure and it doesn't go down very well. I have easily gone to 60 feet with it and it comes up after line release in just a few seconds from 20-30 feet, 5-10 if deeper. I have had no issues up to 2.5 mph. But at 2.5 sometimes if I put too much pressure will pull the fishing line from the release and have to start over. Part of the learning curve, but easy to master with trial and error. 5. Used for 2 years with no problems and did not wear out after probably thousands of trips up and down the cable. And even if did wear out every couple of years I would keep buying another. THIS THING IS GREAT AND I TELL EVERY ONE I KNOW WITH A BOAT TO GET THEM.

Might work for some but……
I was looking for a way to easily double stack lines while trolling for kings and coho. Thought this might do the trick after watching some videos. It might work for some when trolling with small gear for Kokanee or trout but the big gear used for kings and coho was too much for it. The clips are not sized for running big gear and just piped off after trolling for a few hundred yards

Works as advertised
I am really liking this device. It took a bit to figure out how to use, but once you get the hang of it, it is nice. I have a small one-man pontoon and only have ONE downrigger...so this allows for multiple poles to be used while on the water...increasing my catch. I'm not a huge fan of the clip used and will likely replace with better clip...but otherwise good product and very inexpensive considering it literally gives you an extra pole in the water.

works great but breaks to easy
the hawk works great makes adding a second line easy but the plastic wears out and breaks to easy only got a month of fishing with it !! where the hawk clips on to the wire gets a grove in it and breaks.

Great product
Really like mine, wish I had the metal ring that goes inside the top piece that ride on the wire. Without that metal ring the wire eats away at the plastic. Ive had several of these and really like them.

Good once I got used to it
It's a little tricky but I like it as a second line on too. Works great to keep the other line down if they hit this line.

Works great, but will need will need modification
Product works like a charm. However, there is significant wear at the point where shuttle hawk attaches to down rigger line. It has almost cut all the way through after 3 hard days of fishing. Will need to glue some plastic to reinforce it.
