Safety for irrigation pump.

Jetpump was turning off/on due to bad pressure tank so added this and programmed Rainbird zone controller to use "main valve" output to power the pump. Now pump will only be enabled when called for by irrigation controller.

B-Hyve controller with the Orbit pump relay controls a FIMCO 6 zone hydro static sprinkler valve

B-Hyve controller with this pump relay nicely controls an existing FIMCO hydrostatic lawn sprinkler valve. Not quite the flexibility of a solenoid valve system, but neatly installed and the FIMCO valve continues in service. Some programming limitations, but not significant.

Simple product..

Probaby can make it for half the price, but this was easier. I'm not running anything near 1hp 110v pump, so all should be well. This will start a 528gph pump for a small irrigation system and a 40-55 gallon reservoir. Paired with a 3-port solenoid manifold and 4-zone controller from orbit, too. I have not turned this stuff on, but ffs... it's pretty simple stuff to mess up.

it only does one thing, which it appears to do. Box / photo / product not exactly the same

AC 24V 70ma input, 120-240 switch (25a either voltage). please note the photo shown both here AND on the box are not exactly necessarily the same as the product contained within. The box appears to have had a redesign, and it now has the following differences: 1) there are no external mounting tabs above and below 2) box says "WaterMaster", not "ORBIT" is this a knock off? I don't think so. The only internal part appears to be identical to the one at the Orange Box Store. the relay is an Omron G7L-2A-TUBJ-CB, which can be purchased separately for those who don't necessarily need a box. My current timer box is fine, but does not lock properly so I figured it was best to just get the whole box/relay combo.

Review of Orbit Pump Start Relay

This is the second pump start relay I've had to install for my irrigation well in the past three years. Two lightening strikes have required this. The orbit unit is compact and nicely waterproofed. Unfortunately, this unit is just as susceptible to lightening strikes as the Rainbird unit that I had originally used. In fact, the most recent lightening strike was not a direct strike, only a surge through the line. The well pump was protected by a lightening arrestor, and I thought the timer unit was protected by having been unplugged at the time (during the late winter when I had not yet begun irrigation). However, due to lack of any sort of surge protection on the 24V line linking the pump start relay and the timer, a surge went into the timer via this 24V line, destroying the timer as well. So, the new Orbit unit does exactly what it's intended to do. I will rewire the 24V line so that I can easily disconnect it from the timer when I do not need to use the irrigation system to avoid losing another pump start relay AND timer.

Works as designed

Enabled me to install a master motor operated valve into my irrigation system that only opens when the timer activates the zones. Product is as described and works very well for my application.
