This helps shorten my cold sores
This lip care really helps shorten my cold sores. I don’t get them often but when I do this stuff is my go to. It doesn’t taste great, so don’t lick your lips, but other than that this stuff is the best.

Essential treatment for cold sores
Every winter my wife and/or I get cold sores. The trick with cold sores is you've got to get them early and hit them hard. The best one/two punch is to alternate Herpecin with some medicated lip care product. You want to dry it out and moisturize it at the same time. Herpecin is the only choice for the 'dry it out' part of the process. If you follow this process you'll minimize healing time. You want to keep the Herpecin and whatever you're using to moisturize slathered onto the cold sore. This isn't the time to try and economize or try to stretch an almost empty tube. Once it starts to scab over and heal you can gradually transition to just moisturizing it but don't do it too soon. There's nothing worse than having a cold sore that is healing well but pops up again because you weren't diligent about treatment.

Herpecin-L Lip Protectant/Cold Sore & Sunscreen Lip Balm Twin Pack: I needed something that would keep my lips moisturized to prevent cold sores that also contains l-lysine, which usually helps prevent them. The scent is kind of strong, and being near the nose, it's hard to avoid. Hopefully, I'll get used to it or have to find something else. This brand doesn't seem to come in unscented. (Left the stick out without the cap on, and some of the scent has evaporated.) It also seems to be healing the cold sore and is keeping the skin moisturized.
