Read the reviews and thought, "Boy there's a LOT of people who can't figure out how to install a plastic pipe"! ???? First off, the pipe supplied with the disposal is too short to connect to my "J"" drain. Looking for a "fix" I found this item made by Insinkerator. FTD-000, Flexible Discharge Tube, longer, able to adjust, seems like a solution. NOT! ???? First off, there is NO diagram, or Instructions on the package. Ok, a flange, a tube, a couple of seals. What's so hard?? Well..... After installing it 4 times, and each time the tube pulled out through the metal flange I called the toll free help line. I spoke to someone, explained my problem, and after verifying the serial # of my disposal, they told me I was not supposed to use the gray plastic seal. So, while on the phone, I reinstalled it again. And again it fell out of the flange that bolts to the disposal. I expressed my concerns as there were no pictures, or instructions on the package. So how was I supposed to know I shouldn't have to use one of the seals, (which did fit in the pipe, and I thought added support to the thin plastic lip of the tube). In addition I told them the flange they supplied with in this "kit" had a larger opening than the one supplied with the disposal. The "lip" of the tube is thin and not very wide. Therefore any downward force at all to open or adjust the "bellows", makes the lip fall out through the flange. AND after multiple installation attempts, (where you need to distort and bend the "lip" to get the flange onto the pipe, the lip "cracked". I also told them IF the pipe they supplied with a $130 disposal was just 3 inches longer, I would not have had to spend an additional $13 for a item that was in my opinion, poorly designed!!! Well, that's when they got their Supervisor.... After repeating my story, they are sending me another Flexible Discharge Tube, no charge. It will take 7-10 days to arrive.... ???? So I put my gloves and mask on and went down to Lowe's. (I was hoping to avoid all that and that's why I had ordered everything on line). I'm trying to follow instructions and self isolate..... But it's already been 6 days total not being able to use the disposal and 1/2 the sink. The first disposal arrived damaged! (Another story). Well at Lowe's I found there are 2 different discharge tubes for Insinkerators. One is 4", the other is 7". I purchased the 7" tube for $3.48. Back home, mounted it to the disposal, tightened the nut on the "J" drain. And guess what? It works!! Why don't they just include a pipe 3 inches longer, and forget that blasted poorly designed thin piece of crap that they sell for $13 !!???? I could have had this thing working 3 days ago! ????
