Heats

The tube heats the water as expected. I can't comment on its accuracy because I use a separate thermostat to operate the heaters in my tank.

For the price this heater can't be beat

I'm giving this 5 stars with the caveat that I have been using it for only 6 weeks. The pros: It's variable temperature, it's not glass and it does a great job of maintaining the desired temperature I have set it to. The cons: The only thing that didn't work well on it are the suction cups. They kept dislodging and I would find the heater at the bottom of the tank so I purchased off the shelf suction cups from my LFS and all is well (so far). For the price this has been a great purchase (so far).

Broke within 3 days.

Mine broke after 3 days of use. I'm told from my local hydroponic shop that these are usually reliable and can be used with nutrient reservoirs. I thought the natural salts in plant nutrient water could have shorted it out somehow, but after learning you can use them in nutrient water, I've concluded that I just got a bad one. I'm gonna buy another, but from my local hydroponic shop and hope for the best.

Great!

This has been at work for me for over a month now and is still going strong. I am using it to heat an outdoor indigo vat with no problems. The temperature dial gives a temp, a bit of space, then a few degrees higher. If you are looking for something that has to be kept at an exact temperature it may take a little bit of trial and error to get it there.Overall a great product!

Horrible product!

I used this for 2 mo in the winter of 21/22. Unplugged it but left it in the tank over the summer months when I didn't need it. As soon as I plugged it back in just 4mo. later, it didn't work one bit. The heating light comes on. But it doesn't heat the probe. Junk as many others have stated, don't waste your time or money on these!
