Save your hands! Amazingly better than a regular nutcracker.

I may use it to crack crab, but my main use for this wonderful OXO cracker device is cracking filberts for my backyard squirrel pals. I got tired of peanut shells on my lawn and decided to try giving them shelled filberts instead of peanuts in the shell. They loved the filberts but I got a blister on my finger from cracking filberts with a regular nutcracker. They’re hard! I was also struggling with the nuts slipping out of place and smashing them into fragments way too often, vs getting a whole or at least two halves out of the shell. This OXO cracker gives me control. The nuts don’t slip out of it and it’s easier to just lightly crack the shell, preserving the nut meat whole or in halves. Far fewer coming out as crumbs. And easy on my hand! No more blisters. I don’t have a particularly strong grip and this cracker makes using it a breeze. Spoil yourself and get one, if you ever need to crack a lot of nuts. Just so much easier and faster to use than the typical kind of nutcracker. FIVE STARS.

Spring-Loaded

I got this seafood cracker to replace one I previously bought that was not spring-loaded. This one is. It is so nice to have it pop back open after you have cracked open a claw. The handles are also rubber-coated, so they don't slip around in your hand so much.

Nice rubber grip

Works great for cracking hazelnuts and the teeth of this tool is good to hold it in place. This has a nice grip for sure-handedness feel. However, one caveat is I have large sized hands and unable to grip this fully using my palms.

It works

This nutcracker is pretty good. It does not seem incredibly strong like my other nuts/seafood cracker. But this thing will get the job done. It has a really nice rubber grip on it so you don’t lose your grip while handling slippery food.

Better quality than most nut crackers

You can buy other nut crackers that have a similar design to this one from Oxo for under $6, but they are not very sturdy and won't last a long time before they break. I should know because I have gone through several of them. So I was happy to see this new one from Oxo. I own many Oxo products, and I have yet to be disappointed with any of them. Their quality is always excellent and their prices reasonable. I could tell as soon as I picked it up that this nut cracker is better than most of the ones I have used before. It's heavier and it has a plastic coating over the handles that protects your hands and also keeps it from slipping out of your hands even if they are wet. The design of the teeth is better as well. I have had no trouble cracking nuts with this tool. I expect it to last for years. So far I have only tried it with nuts, but it should work just as well with crab legs and crab claws.

Elegant looking nut cracker

Often in the past, I would use a can to smash nut shells that were too hard to crack in my fingers. As I am aging into my 60th year, eating peanuts in the shell does take a good pinch grip. Enter the OXO seafood and nut cracker all in one. I was able to use the opener on thicker and bigger shells and gently squeezing the grip brought out the lovely sound of shells cracking. I also want to add the silicone grip on the handles makes it easier on the hands as well. The breaker's cutouts for the actual breaking is well done I have no doubt this will crack lobster shells just as easy. This is an essential tool in our kitchen and we are ready the next time we want to splurge on lobster or crab dining! Cheers to that! OXO is a great brand that I follow and this is one of their many products I recommend fully. 5 Stars!

Nice, strong seafood crackers. Easy to grip and break tough shellfish. They clean easily too.

Very nice seafood crackers! I really like how comfortable these seafood crackers are to use. They break tough crab legs and lobster claws easily without your hands getting sore or slipping, which is very nice when you have to break a lot of shellfish. The serrated inside is very effective and easily breaks even the toughest king crab legs. These crackers also clean easily and can even be washed in the dishwasher. I usually just washed mine by hand because it was just as simple to do that way. At this price, they are a very good value. I highly recommend these seafood crackers and feel they would also make a great present too. (Now, someone pass me the butter!)

Exactly what I needed

I had one of the dollar store seafood/nut crackers and while it was functional, it hurt my hand a lot to use it and of course felt very flimsy. This one has a nice weight to it but really helps reduce the amount of force you need to use to crack seafood/nuts. The nonslip grip on the handles feels very nice as well and helps a lot especially when seafood juices get on it. It’s well made and feels very sturdy to use. I would recommend it if you find yourself needing to crack seafood and nuts often!
