Travelon Waist-Pouch Quality Control Issues Remedied by Superb Customer Service.

I really like the bag. It has very good fit and finish and the product is as described in the sales material. I use it nearly every time I leave the house. For usability, I give five stars. Travelon's customer service is very, very good--and that's coming from someone who's entire career was built around providing various types of customer service. There were some Quality Control issues which I will explain after talking about why I purchased this particular product. If you purchase this waist-pouch and find problems, Travelon will make it right. Sorry for preaching at the reader, but the only way anyone or any company can correct a problem is if the problem is known. If you don't report a problem when you find it, you' just contributed to it's continued existence. I'm in my late 50s and find myself disabled by a neurological condition. When outside my home, I use a treking pole to help me keep my balance. I also find I need more carrying space for sunglasses, meds, and comfort items than I used to. These are beyond the carrying capacity of pants and shirt pockets. Because of the walking stick, carrying a shoulder pouch, satchel, or backpack isn't an option--I need the other hand free. And as a man in my late 50s, I'm too old and fat to feel comfortable carrying anything resembling a woman's purse so a "murse" or "man-purse" are both out. I thought a black leather waist pouch would be less obtrusive and more manly--assuming the bag-belly combination doesn't draw the eye (hah-hah)--and more fitting for one of my background, age, and girth. Now for the QC problems. Other reviews complained about different things they had go wrong with the pouch. As best as I can tell, they never contacted Travelon asking for it to made right. (Probably more interested in loud and long complaining about anything and everything than solving other problems in their lives) Customer Service is where this product really stands out. I found from personal experience Travelon's customer service is very good. They stand behind their products just as stated in the warranty materials. The waist-pack I'm currently using is the third one sent to me. The strap on the original one began working out of the seam where it was inserted into the bag after less than 10 uses. The replacement arrived and was opened. I found the thread used to fasten the phone pouch velcro to the body of the bag unraveling. I immediately contacted the same customer service rep who had worked with me for the first bag's return and replacement. She personally went out into the warehouse and hand-selected a third bag and had it shipped to me. While this third waist-pouch was in transit, a more careful exam of the second waist-pouch found an open seam in the lining of the back-most zippered pocket. The lining fabric was puckered and oddly-sewn as well. Wanting to do right, I contacted the customer service rep and reported the additional problem and asked about returning the bag. (Don't like to keep things I haven't paid for) I said I thought the two problems were easily fixed . I was told if I wanted to try repairs, it was my choice as was the disposition of the second bag. I didn't set out to with the intent of obtaining a second, usable bag for nothing, but that's what happened. I'm guessing the Customer Service Rep thought I'd had enough hassles with the product and was trying to make things right. Again, I'm extrmely pleased with Travelon's customer service and would purchase any of their products which met my needs..

It has all the features I want and is well constructed

I purchased this to replace a failing leather fanny pack. This would be about my 4th leather fanny pack. I wear them as my wife insists I keep my wallet(s) and epi-pen in it primarily to keep from wearing holes in the back pockets of my pants. This fanny pack appears to be made better than the prior one I purchased in Mexico. They were criticized for replacing the metal slide with plastic. Well, good news, the slide is once again metal. So they listened to the criticism. This bodes well for this company. The compartments are capacious enough for me and the card organizer/holder in the smaller front compartment blocks RF so it provides protection for any cards you store there from RFI readers, at least that is the claim in the description attached to the bag. There is a mesh fabric on the bag that presses against your body. This is designed in to help keep you and it cooler. So it is a good design element and I agree with it. All of the compartments are fully lined. There is a small flat compartment on the back side, perfect for a passport or other important paper/IDs. The zippers seem substantial and well made. Time will tell. My only suggestion is that the two primary zippers have two pulls in them rather than one. This makes it a bit easier to get things out especially when you only need to open one side and it also seems to make the zipper last longer. I am not an expert in this area, but I do like a dual zipper shuttle better than the single zipper shuttle of this design, but the other design elements more than offset that minor critique. Assuming this lasts, I am very happy with this purchase and for the price, I couldn't ask for much more.

****3-10-2020: NEW CONS: Owned and this fanny pack it was ONLY lightly used for less than SIX MONTHS and today the front zipper broke!! :^( Problems: 1) I cannot find a way to contact the seller. 2)Return window expired in October, yet it has a 1-yr warranty? 3) The price has increased from $25 to $40!! UGGGH! Soooo disappointed! PROS: Overall pack is well made, nice padded backside, sturdy zippers, seams appear intact and strong. Interior is light gray in color making it easy to see your items inside. Front pocket has a nice large compartment, it also has credit card slots (which I don’t use) and a couple small slots, (don’t use), plus a small additional zippered compartment for bills, (which I also do not use and it’s not much use for anything else.) Those are great features if you don’t carry a wallet. Personally, I don’t want to empty out my wallet each time I use the fanny pack. Another nice feature... in the main compartment is a little clasp for keys and a pin light for those just in case moment. I’ve used it several times over the month I’ve had it and so far, nothing has broken. ???? CONS: The main pocket has very little depth or breadth, so it doesn't hold much. (see pic) Adding a nice wide gusset to the bottom would help tremendously. If you have hard cases for your glasses or sunglasses, you’re out of luck. My wallet is a “BigSkinny,” which is as thin a wallet as you can get, and I still can’t get my sunglasses case inside. BIG DRAWBACK! The back pocket I use for my Samsung Note, and it fits a bit too tight, especially difficult to pull out when wearing the pack. Again, a little gusset on the bottom and a bit more length to the zipper would remedy this problem. Really miss the small zipper pockets on both sides. Worked great for Vitamins or Advil. The Front Pocket is a great size, with wide mouth/zipper runs deep down each side, nearly to the bottom of the pouch… problem with that is when opened fully, things fall out… to remedy this all they’d need to do is install TWO-WAY ZIPPERS! This would allow a partial opening granting easy safe access without the fear of something falling out when opened fully. The last CON… is the adjustable strap. The webbed strap has a slickness to it which causes it to not stay in the preferred adjusted size, and the strap isn’t continuous, so you have this long flopping strap hanging all the time as the web loop doesn’t secure it in place either. (another big drawback!) (see pic)

chose it for my husband ...he loved it when he tried it on not bulky very soft plenty of storage and also room for your cel phone if you like to feel free and save when riding a bike or just jogging this i strongly recommend that you look at it closer

OK But Not Great!

Couple of things to note: the phone pocket is for the older clam shell type phones and will not accommodate a smart phone. The main pouch does not open easily and will not accommodate my wallet without difficulty. The front pocket will however so that's OK. The leather finish started to wear off the binding within a day of use. Overall rating would be OK but not great.

Nice looking and good leather

Nice looking and good leather. I plan to use it on my next trip abroad, so it has room for air tickets, passport, money, and credit cards and airline membership cards etc. all that I need to have at hand when I travel. Once on board the flight, I stick it into my carry-on.

Super product

Awesome, have used this waist pack for the past few weeks the organizer inside is great for credit cards etc. and being leather it fits so well on the waist. Great for hands free either it be for shopping or out doors exercise. I love any product by Travelon as they are made well, last along time and great value for money.
