So much fun!!
I won’t lie, I got into this game without ever reading the directions, it seemed pretty straight forward. So much fun. But the guesses would go on and on and on. It didn’t feel right. Turns out it’s supposed to be timed. But there’s no timer included. Other than that it’s a perfect game everyone will love.

Kids mystery party
Used this for our 10 year olds detective/spy themed birthday party. Split the guests in to two teams and swapped suspect/detectives for several rounds. Kids had a blast and adults enjoyed watching them play.

Ok game.
Kind of gets boring after a while. Not really a game we look to play again nor do we recommend it.

Adults can play too
I played this game at a friends going away party with about 16 people and it was super fun. A bit hard to guess what's on the card because it's so specific though...but maybe the more times we play the easier it wil be.

Made our snow day fun
My spouse and I played this with our 9-year-old on a recent snow day. We were stuck inside all day while the storm raged, and this kept us having fun and enjoying time together instead of feeling stir crazy. The game was understandable for my child while interesting enough to keep the adults' interest as well. It helped make the day very pleasant and we're looking forward to playing again.

Dumb to purchase
Just make your own clue cards and save the money and space this box takes up. My ten year old thought it was stupid to buy something you could create so simply.

Fresh paint on a classic game
When I was growing up, we played a party game call Psychiatrist. You can look it up on Wikipedia. It's a game where a group sends one person, they psychiatrist, out of the room while everyone else agrees to exhibit some strange behavior in the way they answer questions. When the psychiatrist comes back, they ask the group questions and pay attention to how everyone answers until they can guess what strange behavior everyone is doing. It's super simple, and it's super fun. The only challenge is coming up with creative, strange behaviors for the psychiatrist to guess. "Crack the Code" is essentially the same game, except the psychiatrist is now a detective and you no longer have to come up with the strange behaviors. Instead, there are 200 cards with strange behaviors you can draw from. It might sound like I'm suggesting you don't need to buy this game because you can play without the cards. Technically that's true, but I think the cards are a nice help to the game. Most of the ideas are really good! The reason I've kept my rating at 4 stars is because the game says it's for ages 8 and older, but many of the cards call for behaviors that an 8 year old would find hard to understand. Here's a sampling of the cards: - Answer the question using bad grammar - Act like you have to sneeze while answering the question - Act like you're reading your answer from a children's book - Act like you're in a job interview when answer the question - Lean your head to the left while you answer - Use intense diction while answer the question - Act dumb while answering the question - Don't use any plural words while answer the question - Say "Um" before answering the question - Answer the question with a question - Look the detective up and down before answering the question - Answer the question with exactly three words - The first word of your answer has to be the same as the last word of the previous answer - Bring up your family in each answer If you have a child around 8 years old, then you've probably noticed that some of these are more intuitive for a child than others. I think the designer could have grouped these into levels like Easy, Medium, and Hard. If you're playing with kids, or people who just want to keep it light, then you can play at the Easy level. If you want to make it really challenging for your one super smart friend, then choose from the Hard collection. That's a minor change but, to me, it's the kind of thing that would help justify the price of a game like this. Another idea would be to include an optional scoring track so you could see whether any player is a more successful detective than the others. Those minor suggestions aside, the game is fun! If you're looking for something really easy to teach and yet fun for a group, this is a solid option. Just don't count on it being a "kids" game, specifically.

Fun concept, nice family-friendly party game!
I play all sorts of board games, from super-light kids games to family-weight games to heavier stuff. So I'm familiar with what's out there, including this genre of party/family games. I think this is a neat concept that works well and is fun for a party of family gathering! The rules are very simple and you can be playing in no time. Basically, one team knows a secret "rule" that they must follow - e.g., "Stroke your chin." They must obey this rule while answering questions, which are posed by the opposite team. The questions themselves don't really matter, and can be anything - what is your favorite travel memory, what's your favorite food, etc. It's the question-asking team's job to figure out what the secret rule is, simply by observing the other team as they answer. That's it! It's less about winning or losing or getting "points," and more about having fun - which I always like. It's always fun when there's a "secret" involved with a game, and the these secret rules are handled well - and they have selected a great variety of secret rules to keep it interesting and fun. It's a little odd that the content of the questions themselves don't matter at all, but it's nice to learn more about the folks in your group, nonetheless. I wouldn't say this is a game you're going to play often, or for long periods of time, when you do play. We had had enough after maybe... 6 or so rounds? But that's fine for a game like this, IMHO. I will mention, some people may find this a little intimidating as it can "put them on the spot" to perform an action while answering a question, in front of the whole group. But even the shyer folks in our group had fun with it. The actions are usually very simple/subtle (as they would have to be for the game to work!) and the questions can be whatever you want them to be. Overall, as I said this is a clever concept, well executed. If you're looking for a game to entertain a medium to large sized group, I'd give this one a shot, especially considering the currently VERY inexpensive price of $14.99. Check it out!
