Not Just for Greenies, Great for Everyone!

In the past year I decided to make a point to find great eco friendly products to incorporate into various parts of our lifestyle. Switching cleaners and using reusable shopping bags are great, easy ways to make changes but I wasn't so sure about toys. Could there really be great toys that are ecofriendly and fun? When my little girl turned two this fall she was given a repainted hand-me-down play kitchen from some members of our extended family. It's cute and fun but we needed something to play with in the kitchen. Let me just say now that I hate plastic toys in general so I was leaning toward a metal or wood set for the tot when I found the Green Toys dish set. The colors are gorgeous! When I read that not only are these made from recycled milk bottles, they're also made here in the USA I thought for sure they'd be super expensive. Honestly though, in comparison to other sets I looked at they really weren't that much more. I was sold. Lightweight but shocklingly durable this set takes a daily beating from my daughter. They're nice enough that we could use real food in them (Daddy this does not mean I want to find dried Dr. Pepper in the tea cups again!) and dishwasher safe, which I tested. They're the perfect size for toddlers and the colors are just the right grouping to be great for either gender if you care about that sort of thing. The only thing I don't like about these is the forks. They're odd shaped and I can't imagine trying to use the tines for real food. We did have to put all the place settings up since our toddler was running with them in her mouth but during supervised play they're just too cute for words. On the whole the tot and I love this dish set. I feel good knowing these are American made and ecofriendly. I have full intentions to buy many more toys for our kids from Green Toys because even if I wasn't trying to be more environmentally concious these are just well made toys anyway!

Sturdy, good size, nice colors!

Edit: I wrote this review NOV 2018 and it’s now Jan 2021 and these are still going strong. We now have a rough toddler and expecting our fourth and I’m sure these will still be around for them to play with. Truly good quality and long lasting. Definitely recommend Original review: The kids love these! I was looking for a set that wasn't harsh primary colors. These are softer and more pleasant to the eye than many out there. They aren't super girly either wich is great. The size is perfect. They could probably have small snacks if desired. I added the green trays to keep their place settings organized when they play. Dollar store find. And it's actually been a great strategy! They play but they don't get them all over the place. They were so excited to show their dad when he got home from work. He liked it too. It's been a few days now, maybe a week, and they continue to feed me invisible food. Awesome buy! They feel like they will last a long time. IF THIS REVIEW WAS HELPFUL, PLEASE LEAVE A THUMBS UP. Awesome for REAL food and teaching manners

I absolutely LOVE Green Toys and this admiration has continued with the addition of this dish set. It's nice to know that it's recycled, can double for play and actual food and everything is the perfect size for my one-year-old. We use these every meal and often for snacks so my son can learn how to use dishes without the risk of anything being broken or damaged (or anyone getting hurt!). He has responded amazingly well and at only 12-months-old, can be taken to a restaurant and allowed to use adult plates without hurdling them off the tables. The forks aren't very sharp - which is what most parents would hope for when it comes to young toddlers so we typically substitute a metal one. The spoons are pretty shallow, which is fine for when we feed my son, but not for when he feeds himself. Regardless, it's nice to have safe cutlery to let him practice with. The teacups are absolutely useless - I agree with other reviewers that tumblers would be more realistic, but they're a small company and I'm sure will figure out an economical way to add another mold in without us griping about prices. My son still gets a kick out of carting them around, nonetheless. I've recommended this (and the company!) to many friends and haven't had anyone disappointed yet so :)

A great gift for little ones

I purchased this toy dish set as a gift donation to the Angel Tree and am hopeful that some child will be delighted to receive it Christmas morning. I like that it’s made from safe and recycled plastic, and made in the USA. It purports to contain no BPA which is good. The colours are nice and the size is just right for little hands. Unlike the China sets, these won’t break, making them safe and easy to clean.

Lovely toy, environmentally friendly and great quality

I bought this item as I had already bought the tea set for my daughter, which she loved and was trying to serve me food in the tea cups - I thought it was time for plates and bowls!! It is great quality, very strong and lovely colours (not bright primary colours like so many products) and it is definitely an advantage that it was made from recycled products and all packaging was cardboard, for this reason I would most certainly consider buying other products from their range, The only reason this did not get 5 stars it that this dish set came with 4 cups and 4 spoons which are also a part of the tea set (and more appropriate for the tea set), I was expecting the spoons to be slightly bigger than the teaspoons in the tea set (they were exactly the same) and the cups could have been 'mugs' - for this reason I now have 4 spare cups and 4 spare spoons!! I am now considering other products from their range for Christmas and Birthday ideas!

Expensive but good quality

I’m quite pleased with the Green Toys line. The price tag is often higher than I would ideally like to spend, but I’ll do it for a product that’s not horrible for the environment. They are very sturdy, thick plastic. They’ve held up against my toddler and baby. Unfortunately the cutlery did get bent easily by my son, but he’s young and playing with it harder than intended. I like that the product is made from recycled materials and it has great packaging (why do so many toys have that silly, useless plastic window?). Just recyclable cardboard.

Great play dish set. Love the hard plastic & colors!!

This is an awesome play set. Our girls LOVE using it. My only complaint is that I never initially realized how tiny the utensils would be as we have an 11 month old, but they aren't too small that she can't play with them with her big sis. Also it was an AMAZING price as we got Amazon Prime pricing, but I'd pay full price for this item as it is that great!
