Love it
I purchased this for my 4 year old and he loves it. I'm a mom of 2 and this is perfect to keep my son busy while I attend my 1 year old. He loves it and always wants to play with it.

Amazing idea, poor durability
I searched high and low for a wooden bead stacking toy for my 20 month old this Christmas, and was so excited when I found this. My daughter absolutely loved it!…for the first week. I wouldn’t call her destructive at all normally, but within the first week of her having it, she broke one of the wooden rods while attempting to remove it from the hole. The wood around the holes has also cracked and splintered. Highly disappointing for a Melissa and Doug set! My husband plans to try to salvage it by covering the old holes with a new board, but for the money I spent with a gentle, nondestructive-natured daughter, I was very displeased. I give it one star for durability and sturdiness, but three overall because my daughter was absolutely obsessed with it before it became a hazard.

Well constructed, simple teaching toy
We purchased this set for our daughter after her occupational therapist had used it with her several times. It was highly recommended on other sites and our daughter seemed to enjoy it when her therapist brought it. The set has a large number of brightly colored chunky wooden beads of different shapes, along with five dowels to set them on. The set also includes a number of wooden slats that the child can follow to make patterns. Because there are so many shapes and colors, the toy doesn't seem to grow old because there is such a variety of patterns possible. It's great for interaction and learning shapes, colors, and counting. The only drawback is that you do need to be careful of the dowels when they are upright in the holder. I always make sure to put it away as soon as she is done playing with it because I think it would be very easy to get poked in the eye if the child fell while running around, as children do. But otherwise, a great learning toy. I would recommend it for children learning shapes, colors, and stringing techniques (but would follow the age recommendation because of the possibility for problems with the dowels.)

Pros & Cons
I try to keep toys minimalist, for a bunch of reasons. I wanted to get my kid the threading beads and the geometric stacker, but I got this instead thinking it would be a compromise. instead of having to purchase two, I thought this could be a two-for-one situation. At 15 months, I knew my kid wasn’t ready for detailed sequencing, but he loves posting and stacking activities. I have tucked away the sequencing cards and just let him play with the tray, beads and dowel. He loves putting the dowels into the tray, and selecting beads to put onto each of the dowels. It is also an opportunity to do language development, and color identification. Since I already have a string with dowel that he can “bead” onto, I figured I’d save myself the $ and he could just use these beads for threading as well (instead of buying the threading set). The PROBLEM is that I am pretty sure my set did not have all of the pieces to make (copy) all of the assorted sequencing/stacking patterns on the pattern cards.. So, I’m going to likely have to buy the beading kit and supplement with that since they appear to be comparable in size. So much for keeping it minimal! … ????‍♀️ oh well, at least these are durable, quality toys with a developmental purpose. Also the beading set goes on sale often, so I’ll just scoop it as well next time I see it go on sale! Docking a star for incompleteness of the overall bead selection.. but overall this is a useful developmentally appropriate toy that will have a long life in our household as my kiddo grows.

Brilliant toy for young ones with Adult supervision
I bought this set to use as a 'guided activity' with my little one and he loves it...was really surprised that he could place the beads onto the sticks almost straight away. Definitely need adult supervision because you don't want your little one swallowing the beads! You can teach your little one so much from using this set...classification, fine motor (threading ), sequencing..etc

Great activity for Dementia care
I love this product. Bought it for my Dad who suffers from Dementia. It keeps him engaged. As his full-time caregiver I am always looking for activities for him. I was actually surprised, but out of all his activities we purchased. This one was his favorite.
