Makes life really easy

Adding the stop to the wire stripper makes it very easy when working with GFCI's or using the new push-in wired nuts that require a specific depth. With traditional wire nuts it makes getting everything stripped to a consistent depth very easy. Same with connecting to outlets screws.

Quality part by Klein

Quality is as good as it gets, knurling is good quality, as is the plastic used. The clear plastic is quite thick and should hold up well.

Great addition to the Katapult wire stripper

I've gone through my entire life stripping 12ga wire with a jack knife. had to wire a new stable for some friends of mine. Getting the strip-length right was a piece of cake. But you still have to be careful about nicking the conductor.

Klein Tools should include this when buying Katapult.

I have been using Klein Katapult since the year 2011. Only recently I learned this depth gauge has always been available. Don't know how I got by without it. Magnifies seeing the wire too while placing in correct strip hole.Overall build quality could be better but I like it anyhow. Shipped and delivered on time.

Ludicrously overpriced, poorly designed

The Klein Katapult should include a depth stop as standard. This is a ridiculous amount of money for two small screws and a piece of plastic. The stop is not well designed - it is obviously a kluge that was added on later. The plastic part rotates freely on the rod, so you have to make sure it is square as you tighten the lock screw. The stop goes all the way down to zero strip length, which is obviously useless; as a result, you have reverse the stop on the rod to get longer strip lengths. There is no way to flip the stop out of the way for a one-off strip of an odd length. The rather crude built-in (and therefore free) stop on the Irwin stripper is better. No instructions are provided; you have to deduce that you must remove one of the existing screws from the Katapult and replace it with the rod.

Mine cracked and became useless after a few resets to different lengths

The screw needs to be tightened very tight for the stop to stay in place. Otherwise the stop slides slightly with each use of the stripper and the adjustment is lost. Mine cracked and became useless after a few resets to different lengths. This should have been a metal part instead of plastic.

Great idea, but the attachment screw not the correct size

I love my stripper. And I love the idea of this wire stop gauge. However the attachment screw is not the correct size and after some use, the screw simply strips out of the tool. The threads inside the tool itself are fine, but the attachment screw threads will not hold this wire stop gauge. It is very frustrating. I called Klein to see if they will replace or even just fix the new parts that they make. We'll see what they do. Again, love the tool and idea, but the execution is quite poor.

Muy útil (Compra varios...)

Muy útil para cuando tienes que desforrar múltiples cables a una misma longitud; por ejemplo cuando vas a instalar todos los apagadores/contactos de una misma marca en una casa. El tope es de plástico, así que no esperes que soporte el abuso y el maltrato, de cualquier forma como no es un producto caro, recomiendo comprar varios de una sola vez para irlos reemplazando cuando se dañen. La relación costo/beneficio es muy buena
