Right size

This was just the right size for our counter, not too big, and not too small. If you have a marble or granite kitchen counter I suggest putting felt pads on the bottom to avoid scratching the surface. This should have also come with extra filters, but they were missing.

Perfect solution

The design makes using it so easy. The quality is really nice and solid. It looks nice sitting on the counter and the charcoal filter removes odors. Therefore, its perfect!

Good Looking, but not odorless

I really like the way this looks on my counter top. And it's exactly the right size. The charcoal filters do help to contain the garbage odors. But if you are cooking for one or two, and do not need to empty daily, you will smell the odor of food waste as it decomposes after a few days. That is unless you close the inner bag (I use the plastic veg bags from the grocer as liners) and then put the lid on. In my kitchen, this stainless container replaced a clear plastic container about the same size that had a lid that was airtight, so those odors did not happen, and less oxygen was getting inside, thus less decomp. But it does speed up the compost process, so well worth taking the time to make it work in your situation.

Nice looking compost pail

While I am really pleased with this compost pail, it does have a few minor drawbacks. I have a long walk to my compost pit and the handle really swings the pot during the journey, ie; scary potential compost mess. I imagine this is a not a problem for most people if you're just chucking compost at a short distance. The other issue is the moldy filter... again, probably more of an issue if you have a lot of scraps and don't get to dumping as quickly as you should. The filter otherwise is great, I have no issue with smells or fruit flies. The pail itself is very attractive on the counter. If I were to do it all again I might invest in something bigger as I really underestimated my scrap-loads, but if you're normal and not as lazy about emptying it as myself you'll love it.

Rsvp Compost Pail

I was amazed as to how well this pail works. It is sitting on my kitchen counter. I couldn't smell a thing but, when I opened it lol needless to say I could smell the strawberries/tomatoes/strips of cucumber and etc. There are no little flies buzzing around it; so you wouldn't even know I had stuff in it. Wow this works great. I have had to make several trips to my compost pile cause I have been filling it up a lot faster since I have been doing the raw food lifestyle. But, no problem it is good exercise and I get to see and hear all the wildlife in my backyard that I would other wise miss. This little pail is so very easy to clean, just a little soap and hot water and looks great on my counter top taking up very little space. I would recommend it very highly to anyone wanting to compost. I know next year my garden is going to be so very happy with the end results; plus it makes me happy that I am sending out less garbage to the landfill and benefiting my land instead.

Love it!

I bought two of these stainless steel containers - one for the kitchen and one for my desk at the office. I was initially concerned because I read the reviews that said they are breeding grounds for fruit flies, but I'm really careful about not putting anything IN the container that would be contaminated with fruit flies, and so far so good. My office mates can't believe how odorless my "desk composter" is - I put tea bags, coffee grounds, plant clippings (I have a jungle on my desk that often needs pruning), used napkins, etc. in it, and it's been great. I (re)use a grocery bag as a liner - I tie the handles tightly around the exterior of the can to make it look pretty. Each Friday I tie my grocery bag in a knot and bring it home with me to empty into my large backyard composter. The one in our kitchen is also great - but I empty it more frequently. Highly recommend!

Icing on the Decomposition Cake

This little gem is perfecto. Who would expect to adore a compost pail so much? It's pretty small (as described), which I like. And it looks great (just like the pic). I haven't gotten to put it to the sniff test yet, but the filter is much larger than the cermanic pail I used before (which was effective), so I trust it will be great. And I think it will last longer. I like that this is steel as well. I had a very similiar ceramic one, which was likewise nice looking. But I like this better for two reasons. First, it's lighter, so easier to carry when full. Second, my ceramic busted (so sad) because I sat it outside on a freezing day last winter - I don't recall why; so if you have or opt for a ceramic one, don't do that, they're pretty sensitive to climate. I already feel great about composting. This is just a nice bonus! Bliss.

Love the Smaller Size!

Loved it's smaller size - good for every-other day use. Seems to wash nicely - haven't had it a long while, though. Think it'd make a very nice gift. Comes in a box. Zero smells and zero fruit flies. No stains showing yet- way too soon, if the case. I may come back later and revise but for now I sure can say I wish I had purchased one of these cool things years ago.

Steel finish not wearing well.

After a few washes the steel is coming off to show the brass underneath in two spots. It did look nice and is a perfect size for us otherwise. No odor with the charcoal filter.

Really like that it is smaller than the original pail I was going to purchase. I purchased a slightly dented item to reduce the cost of the pail even more and the dent is minimal at best. If I didn't know to look for it I probably would have completely missed it. Would definitively by the "Used" item again.
