Perfect!

These were extremely easy to measure and cut. The install was just put them up there in the plastic holder and fan out. Super sun blocking it is just what I needed for the blistering afternoon sun. I would not say the material is high quality, it reminds me of recycled paper, but hey, it does the job on the cheap. I was able to cut 2 shades out of 1 order but had to order a $16 additional plastic holder on Amazon it is in the outline of a cat and very cut but ridiculously overpriced. But 2 windows done for the cost of the redishade and 1 plastic holder so under $50.00 and it's custom fitted, by me of course. Worth the money. If I need to install more I would definitely buy this arch shade kit again.

I got the impression that the Original Arch Shade fabric was a bit of a knock-off, and maybe NOT the original product. The paper it is made of appeared more re-cycled or cheaper than it should appear to be. Paper maché is a good concept of the poor quality.

Truly blocks all the light

This shade really does Block all the light. Its really sturdy and heavy duty. Its got markings to cut precise measurements. The only complaint I have is it needs the half moon clear track that these shades usually come with to hold it up. Besides that 10/10.

Alternative trimming method for imperfect arch window

The method described in the included instructions, if your window is not a perfect arch, is to hold up the fan and mark the outline for cutting. I found that to be practically impossible so I came up with another approach. But first complete the instructions to cut the fan to fit the longest dimension. I have an arch that is 1/2 inch less tall than it is wide. So the hard part was not done yet since holding the fan up to the window and marking it was not practical. Here’s an alternate way to mark the fan. 1. Count the pleats to find the middle of the fan. 2. Measure down 1/2 inch and make a mark. 3. With the pleats completely closed, draw a straight line along the edge of the pleats from the left top corner to the mark which you just put on the center pleat. This is shown in the picture. Next draw a line from the bottom of the V to the top right corner. 3. Use scissors to cut along the fan while the pleats are open, or use a knife to produce a V with the pleats closed. The picture shows the what it looks like when you have cut half of the V n the fan. Bottom line installation takes time and care.

Cut to fit

We have an eyebrow window; 52 inches at the bottom and 37 inches at the top of the arch. With careful cutting and measuring, I was able to customize the shade. After reading other reviews, I opened the shade on the sill and took a pencil to mark where to cut before sticking it onto the piece of wood strip that my husband cut to put across the windowsill. I marked it more to the outside of the window and cut small slices at a time until it fit well. (Momma said “measure twice, cut once”) I also glued a piece of the scrap to the back of the clear plastic fan holder so the sun wouldn’t shine through that little area. It’s budget friendly and does keep some of the heat out of our living room. I would buy it again.

Inexpensive and effective

If you want an inexpensive solution to a south-facing half moon window, this is it! It's cheaply made, but you can't tell unless you're close up - which would be unlikely since these windows are usually high above the regular windows. It has made a significant difference in the temperature of the room during the hot Texas summer. While it blocks the sunlight, it isn't completely opaque so it still looks pretty. I was concerned about using my expensive chef's knife but it didn't seem to harm it -- I just sharpened it before and after. It would have been better if I was stronger so I could have cut straight down to the bottom but I had to turn it on the side to finish cutting. This made the cut less than perfect, but don't worry, you can't tell once it's up. In hindsight, it could have been that the blade got dull at 3/4 of the way and probably should have tried re-sharpening. But it turned out fine anyway so no complaints.

Cheap way to block light

I have small arch windows, so one 72" shade can be cut in half to provide shade for 2 windows. However, you only get 1 clear plastic arch holder, which is necessary to keep the shape and stability of the shade. Redishade does not sell the arch holder separately so I would need to buy another kit to acquire another holder. I wish they sold smaller shades or the holder separately so that I'm not wasting money buying another shade I wont use. Otherwise, I have the shade sitting on the blinds cover on my window. I am not using the adhesive because there isn't a solid surface to stick it to. The shade blocks the sun and significantly reduces glare on my tv.

Good product

Looks good and blocks the light. It was difficult to set in place as our window is not a perfect arch. I had to cut it four times to get it to work for the window.

Not the colour I wanted or needed

Hi there, unfortunately this did not work for me....it was sort of whitish/blueish...Didnt really fit for me, I was hoping it would be more beige.
