For the price, you can't beat this mag

Simply a stellar mag trainer. It's a bit on the loud side, but I have yet to hear a mag trainer that is super quiet. The remote is a great feature and I'm looking forward to putting many miles on this thing over the winter.

Good Trainer

It was raining the day I set this up. That is the ideal day to test out a bike trainer. My first thought was to dust off my road bike and set it up with this trainer. As I pulled it off the wall of the packed garage, I figured this was realistically one of the few times carbon fiber's light weight has made any real difference. Furthermore, my mountain bike is still buried in a mountain of stuff and will not be tested with this trainer. After airing up the tires, I looked at the Minoura instructions and realized I should use the included rear skewer. I switched them out but do not really like the included skewer. It is not as well finished as the Shimano, but since the directions say the trainer performance is not guaranteed unless the included skewer is used, I tried it. After cycling a while, I switched back to the Shimano skewer. To me, the Shimano works just as well and I would rather not change back and forth when putting the bike on and off the trainer. That said, I decided to mount my commuter bike on the trainer. It is a better match for this trainer and I have no worries about flexing the rear triangle on this cheaper bike, something bicyclists worry about with high end carbon fiber bikes. I did have to use the included rear skewer since the one on the bike does not fit the trainer's locking mechanism. For pure exercise, this works very well. If I were seriously training then I would use my road bike. Assembling the bike trainer is simple and straightforward. I like the Minoura's hub lock. It works well and is easy to line up and lock. I thought it would be more complicated and am happy that it is not. The control is good and mounts/dismounts easily. It is also large and easy to switch settings. Combined with the bike's gears, it covers a wide range of resistances. I did work up a good sweat after a short amount of time and definitely see the need for a sweat guard. One factor I did not consider beforehand is the elevated position is higher than the standover height on a well-fitted bike. The bike cannot be tilted to get on or off. I may use a step or platform to enter and exit the trainer.

Minoura MagRide trainer! So far so good!

Initial Review: Honestly, I have never heard of Minoura Bicycle Trainers until just recently. I have never seen this brand at the stores I have shopped at. I will lightly compare this bike trainer with my CycleOps JetFluid Pro Trainer. I understand these two trainers are not in the same league and same design, but my initial reaction to this trainer is good. Positives: - Easy setup. - Good solid build and lighter weight. - Remote control for the adjusting the tension. - Excellent skewer locking design. - Included riser block. Negatives: - No feet height adjustments. I will take this for a ride this weekend and I will update my review regarding performance and noise levels compared to a fluid trainer. For now checkout the side by side photos of the Minoura MagRide and CycleOps.

Love the Workout Potential!

I will admit, I am not an dedicated bike rider. I rode a bike as a child, but as an adult, I can count the number of times on two hands that I have sat on a bike. With that being said, when I selected this product it was not because I was training for a biking completion, I simply thought this would be a good piece of exercise equipment, in lieu of a treadmill or elliptical. It is lightweight. I would say it weighs maybe 20 pounds. It is easy to assemble and it's compact design makes storing it easy. I am having a more difficult time finding a home for my bike, than this gadget. It has a knob which adjust the tension you feel while pedaling. This feature is nice to increase your intensity of cardio. Overall, it is a simple device, which even a rookie like me can manage!

good product

Bought this so I can ride in the garage in the mornings. It is quiet, smooth and works as described. Set up was easy to follow. I was able to use my existing skewer which made me happy. I think this is a good product for the price. Probably some peloton riders won't agree, but if you just want to spin those wheels, this will work.
