We recently exchanged our queen-sized bed for a king-sized adjustable bed comprised of two XL twin-sized mattresses pushed together, which necessitated us getting new bedding, including a new comforter. We ordered this comforter in the king size because it looked cozy, and we liked the simple design. On the plus side, the comforter is extremely soft and indeed very comfy feeling, and it’s exactly the type of blanket you’d want to crawl under on a cold winter’s night. We also appreciated that the comforter had no smell coming out of the bag, as some bedding can smell positively noxious. This would have been problematic for us because our washing machine would not be able to accommodate this king-sized comforter. Regardless, we always like to clean bedding before we use it, so thankfully we were able to fit it in our dryer and use the comforter/steam setting, which really freshened and fluffed it up nicely. We would recommend at least putting the comforter in the dryer, if possible, before using it because the fabric fibers get a little crushed in the bag and this makes it feel extra plushy and fresh. While the comforter looks nice, we do have a few concerns. It is made of 100% polyester, which may end up not being so great when static-shock season starts as the weather gets colder. Also, we’re not sure how long the fabric itself will hold up and keep looking nice. Since this is a Sherpa-style blanket, there is likely to be eventual matting and pilling. While this can sometimes be addressed through various techniques, like brushing out the matted areas, we don’t know how well this comforter would withstand such treatment, as it seems somewhat delicate. A common problem with Sherpa blankets that we already encountered with this comforter is that they tend to attract lint and other debris, and that was the case right out of the bag. It had all kids of little bits stuck to it, most of which looked like threads and tiny paper slivers, probably from the factory. Fortunately, they easily came off with a few passes of the lint roller. When ordering this comforter, we recommend sizing up if you want to have enough overhang on the sides of your bed. Unfortunately, there is no size up from king, and the sides fall short on our bed, which doesn’t look great. It may also ultimately limit our ability to jointly use this comforter, as there may not be enough blanket for a truce on those cold nights we unconsciously engage in a battle of tug of war. This set comes with 2 king-sized shams. Thankfully, when we ordered our new mattresses, they sent us king-sized pillows, which fit perfectly into the shams. We will likely just use them decoratively to prevent them from pilling and because Sherpa-style pillowcases are not the best for hair. In summary, we like this set but are not sure of its longevity. We also wish it had a little more overhang on the sides.
