Love the powder, the primer not so much

The primer is gorgeous and just a perfect amount of shimmer. It goes on smoothly. Unfortunately, it didn’t make my makeup stay any longer. I do love the brightness. Maybe layered with another primer it would work well. Personally, it made my face itchy and red but I’m sensitive. I wanted to love it but it’s not for me. Now the powder? This banana powder is finely milled and has the best puffy sponge thing. It sits great over foundation and brightens the complexion. Just let it sit and then brush away/in. For reference: I used both products with IT cosmetics foundation and it cosmetics brushes.

Illuminating, nice product for a higher price

The primer and powder claim to be illuminating and they are exactly that. This primer has a yellow hue, while my skin has a more pink/red hue, so I was initially worried that it might not blend well for me -- but it works great. It blends in mostly sheer and makes my skin look more vibrant and radiant. I had the same concerns with the powder, but it's mostly sets sheer and I like this powder much more than the powders I've been using. My foundation goes on the primer well and the powder sets it really nicely without being cakey. Both the primer and the powder are lightweight, they don't weigh on my skin at all. This product is quite pricey at $67, but besides that, no flaws.

Shimmer highlighter effect is not for my skin texture but can be pretty!

Seems ok but I haven't been reaching for it because the "illuminating" element AKA micro-shimmer highlighter-esque qualities accentuate my larger pores and things I'd rather not highlight like my eyebags however I've been using it as a nice "milder-than-actual-highlighter" alternative when I'm going for a dewey shimmer on places like my upper cheek bones etc. Not as an overall primer for me though. Also a bit yellow for me as a red-undertone person but that part is not as noticable on. I don't really notice any pore filling/mattefying abilities like my other primers can have but this does have a nice enough moisturizing feel. It's great that this is fragrance free. I am unfamiliar with the market for this particular item and thus cannot assess "value for product" sufficiently. For electronic devices like this, longevity and maintenance will be the major concern. First impressions, will update if I find further benefits or issues w/ more use in the future.

Provides good coverage

It's lightweight and easily absorbed into the skin. It's yellow but it's not tinted once applied. The one thing I didn't like about it is the weird smell.

Best primer by far

I love this. It makes my face look hydrated with a tint of shine. I love the way my makeup lays on it and I can tell my makeup lasts longer through out the day. I also like to wear this without makeup because it helps even out my skin tone.

Very easy to spread on

This product I think was pretty good. It was very easy to spread and I like the style but I don't really like the smell. It's very easy to apply and overall it's just really good. It's probably better than any other primer I've used but I don't love the smell.

Good name, good products

Dermablend makeup was originally developed to provide full coverage for birthmarks, bruising, surgical scars, tattoos, etc., that regular makeup couldn't hide. Of course, most people don't want or need such thorough coverage, but most of us can use a little help which brings us to the banana powder. While it is yellow, it doesn't look yellow on your skin. It helps counter redness and brighten your skin. If applied as directed - pat on then brush off a few minutes later - it will set your makeup without getting cakey. As for the primer, I really like it, particularly for eyeshadow - when set with the banana powder, it is the perfect base for eyeshadows. Without powder, the primer itself creates a nice low-key shimmer if you don't feel like wearing eyeshadow but want a little something extra. I don't typically use shimmery products on my face because I don't want to highlight my acne scars, but as a primer under foundation it works great, creating a nice smooth surface. It does not fill in scars and large pores to the degree of some others, but if that is not a major concern for you, you will likely be very happy with this primer. (If covering skin issues is something you want to work on, try it in conjunction with Dermablend's foundation and/or concealer.) If all you want is a little shimmer on a no-makeup kind of day, this primer would work great on its own. Dermablend's products do not come cheap, but if you want full coverage that doesn't look like you're wearing a mask, this brand is well worth it - especially if you have skin flaws you want to disguise. I only wish this had been around when I was younger and dealing with acne!

Makes my dry skin glowy and hydrated.

I have been a fan of Dermablend products for many years. The cover cream became too heavy for me as I aged so I thought maybe this primer would also be too heavy but it isn't. It is a unique primer that gives my dry skin a very nice sheen and glow. I don't see shimmer on my face, just a glow. My makeup applies well over it and it lasts a long time without fading. The only thing I noticed is that my pores are still visible. I have super dry skin but suddenly I have larger pores and I hate them. Some primers fill them pretty well but this one doesn't completely do that. Otherwise, I love the glow, the makeup wear time lengthening, and the brand.
