Excellent Solution

The box was exactly what I needed. Fit was perfect and the gaskets added extra confidence. I will buy this again if I need another one.

The 'weather seal' pad is the only thing holding this back

Thank gosh for extensions like these. My wiring for my pool pump, some yahoo literally crammed no less than 5 12ga stranded wires into a SINGLE wirenut for grounding...and this is for 240V equipment!!! Splitting that out to multiple grounds (tied together of course) meant many more caps, and just no room. This is a 2 gang box that holds the pump wiring to the little mechanical clocky thingy, and wiring to an external manual switch for it, and also some 120 to an outlet (from the circuit for the pool submerged light). The only thing that's a pain here is the ridiculously thin and hard to manouver and hold into place foam 'weather seal' crap they give you, but that's true of any and every exterior grade electrical box I've bought. I ran a bead of RTV around the external joint seam after assembly as a backup plan.

2-Gang Weatherproof Extension Ring

One problem is grounding the metal extension ring when it's used on a plastic electrical box. The electrical code may require the ring to be grounded when the receptacle or switch etc is pulled out of the box. There is no grounding screws on many of these box extension rings, so check your code for compliance. Otherwise they help meet the code requirements for box volume versus box wiring and receptacle numbers etc.

Did the job, not too hard, really, but good.

The electrician never put a cover on the wire box because there were too many connections, this make everything real neat and painted will so it looks real nice.

Fits existing plastic electric box

Just the right added depth for a gfi or light timer. I had concerns about using this with my existing Carlon plastic pvc box, but it was a perfect fit. Like others, I found the gasket hard to position, but with a little work it aligned correctly.

Box Extender

The backplate should be in the front for switch covers and the hole alignment is not right for all switch covers

Fit's perfect

This expansion ring will allow me to install large devices in my electrical box like smart plugs. As stated in previous reviews the gasket is hard to work with....if the manufacturer simply made it 1/2" wider you can trim the excess with a utility knife. Instead I used black gorilla tape and cut the excess with a utility knife.
