Quit Working
This unit is less than 90 days old and the outside temperature unit stop transmitting, tried replacing the battery's in both units, still does not work, tried to get support help OMG could you make it any harder to not get help.2/27/2023 The Acu-Rite customer service contacted me the other day and asked me to supply them with some information and pictures of my unit, which i did and they are warranty my unit, I got a shipping notification in my email. Your customer support has changed my mind about your company, you are doing a great job. Thank You!

Low Maintenance Once Installed
This little weather gauge gives you an easy way to keep up with rainfall as well as the temperature inside and outside. It’s a little fiddly to calibrate the rain gauge or you can just accept the default. This is the second one of these I have bought. The other lasted several years only needing the batteries replaced. Eventually sun damage hurt the “ears” where the top fastened and in a wind storm that blew off and was broken. Haven’t seen another quite like this so decided to go with the one known. One nice feature is that you can press a button on the face of displace to show you yesterday’s rainfall. Two clicks gives you the week and one more all the rainfall that has fallen. It reverts to the main display within a few seconds. One thing I did find useful to do was to fill up any nooks and crannies where the cover meets the base with a bit of wadded plastic. This to prevent solitary bees & tiny spiders from packing mud into it or building webs inside.

Inaccurate
This Model 1089M rain/temp monitor reads rainfall @ 1/2 the correct amount. It's amazingly accurate @ 1/2 the correct amount!!! Must be an electrical problem since it's so accuratelly inaccurate. The digital counter can't count too well. Temperature works fine but it's going back.

Most useful functionality for a bargain price.
My main motivation was the rain gauge and when finding this device that also had internal/external temperature and humidity for a fairly low price I thought I found my match. It didn’t matter too much that the display is a rather old-fashioned mono-chrome LCD without backlighting. Smartphone connectivity would have been a nice feature, but once again not mandatory for my use either. I’ve had the device for a month now and overall very happy with it. Currently sitting thru (now depression) Florence, the rain gauge got a decent workout and compares fairly well with the conventional glass tube meter I have set up nearby. In fact, even without calibration the first decimal place of the digital readout correlates fairly well with the glass tube. Setting up the three components is easy enough. Just add batteries, as long as you remembered to get some AA and AAA since the devices do not come with any. While the pairing is hard coded via dip switch and does not require any further settings other than making sure that the rain gauge and the receiver are set to the same letter. However, if you replace batteries in the rain gauge you automatically reconnect albeit with a high value (in my case 99.4 inches of rain) which would be reset the next day, if it wasn’t to remain in the historic data and render any past values useless. Removing the batteries from the receiver fixes the issue but also resets historical values. I have the display unit set up about 10 ft (3m) from the outside temperature/humidity sensor and about 13 ft (4m) from the rain gauge. Both signals have to travel thru an outer side wall (Masonite panels) and the rain gauge also travels thru the ceiling to the balcony above. Signal strength is typically between 3 and 4 bars (out of a max of 4). Overall accuracy seems reasonable for home applications and generally the parts I can verify are fairly good. The clock does not sync with an atomic clock nor the internet. Fans of metric or 24hr formats are not heard by the device as you cannot change the format of time, temperature or length. Not a big deal, but doesn’t feel timely either.

Great rain gauge
When my older rain gauge stopped working I chose this one as a replacement and it’s so much better than my older one. The set up is straight forward and each component connected to each other —it took a bit for the rain gauge to connect so we just left it overnight and in the morning it was on line. The rain gauge is quite sensitive down to 0.01 inch (which in our dry climate is sometimes all we get). The temperature is very accurate inside and out. We have no complaints and would purchase again.

Takes a lot of batteries
Seems good so far, but haven’t had any rain yet, so can’t review that part of it. It does take a lot of batteries, which is disappointing, and I wish the rain gauge had a couple more settings, but otherwise so far, so good

Easy to use
Have not set mine up yet. But a good friend bought one a couple years ago and raved about it. Easy way of keeping track of the rain without having to dump it. Also has the features of the temperature and humidity
